“DENIM DEVELOPERS”
Client: DLZ DENIM
This client approached us through word-of-mouth referrals and was impressed by our online portfolio showcasing previous industrial process projects. With years of experience in commercial and industrial film and photography production, we have honed our expertise in navigating industrial settings discreetly without causing disruptions.
We thrive on assignments like these that offer us creative freedom while still meeting our client's requirements. It's an opportunity where we can exercise our creativity within the framework of delivering what the client needs. However, it's important to note that this type of work demands meticulous planning and execution.
Handling logistics involving equipment, and crew, and coordinating set-up times within the company's operational floor is crucial. This careful planning ensures that we minimize any unnecessary downtime and disruptions to the company's processes.
Equally essential is our commitment to safety. We rigorously adhere to safety procedures and utilize the appropriate safety equipment at all times. This dedication to safety not only ensures the well-being of our team but also contributes to the overall success of the project.
DLZ's marketing department conveyed the desire for a marketing approach that imparts a handmade, rustic, and traditional essence to the brand's DNA. We were enthusiastic about this concept and saw an opportunity to create a captivating experience for the audience.
Our idea was to capture the entire production process, offering viewers a front-row seat to this journey. By doing so, we aimed to provide them with a virtual experience akin to being physically present. This immersive approach not only fosters a deeper connection with the brand but also adds substantial value to the product.
Highlighting all the production stages enables us to showcase the craftsmanship, dedication, and attention to detail that goes into DLZ's Denim Line. This transparency not only builds trust with consumers but also significantly enhances the potential for successful sales by allowing customers to appreciate the product from inception to completion.
When shooting in challenging conditions, such as busy production floors with active personnel and machinery, the first crucial step is to determine where and how your crew can establish a production base. This space could be a dedicated room or any idle, hazard-free area on the premises. This becomes even more critical when working with models, as you'll need a suitable setup with chairs and tables for makeup and camera equipment. If you have access to two separate offices, it's advisable to divide them—one for models, makeup, and wardrobe, and the other for camera assembly. If your shooting schedule involves scenes where the model interacts with heavy machinery, pours liquids, or gets dirty, it's wise to save those shots for the end.
Our workflow typically involves first setting up lighting and props, using a stand-in crew member to test the lighting conditions before calling in the talent. We prioritize filming first and leave still photography for the very end. This approach allows us to address any unexpected issues during filming, as they can often be edited out using image retouching software for stills.
For stills, we used a Canon EOS R with a 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.8, and 100mm 2.8 macro lenses. For filming, we employed a Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera (BMMCC) with the same still lenses to maintain consistent aesthetics.
